+Quote: “(my enticements) are sufficient to conquer all fear of danger or death, and to induce me to commence this laborious voyage with the joy a child feels when he embarks in a little boat, with his holiday mates, on an expedition of discovery up his native river.”
+ the quote shows that Walton has a strong desire to explore the world around him, even though he knows that it is dangerous, but it wouldn’t stop him from exploring the world. Mary uses Walton as tool in text to show the readers that he is an intelligent person but since he wants to know more about the world, he ignores any danger that could happen to him just because he thinks he deserves to know.
+ Mary Shelley uses Frankenstein and the creature to introduce the reader about the idea of judgement on appearances, which is our human nature, however, this could create an unwell feeling within a person who experience it. In the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, 1818, the author uses the novel to emphasize the reader the danger of knowledge, judgement on appearance, and the idea of the parents should be taking care of their children. Mary uses different characters and language features to help the reader understand more about the dangers in human society which coming from ourselves and can affect the world around us. All different ideas are demonstrated by using three different main characters,Victor Frankenstein, Robert Walton, and the Creature, Frankenstein’s creation.
In the novel, Walton was a man who desire to explore the world, aim to discover an unknown land. He wrote letters to his sister while he traveled around, in the letter, he mention about how his enthusiasm would not stop him from travelling, even though he knows that it is dangerous and he can die because of that. It is revealed by the text “(my enticements) are sufficient to conquer all fear of danger or death, and to induce me to commence this laborious voyage with the joy a child feels when he embarks in a little boat, with his holiday mates, on an expedition of discovery up his native river.” In the text he compare himself as a child curious about the planet he lives in, even though he knows he will experience the danger but he still wanted to explore the world. This metaphor creates a a clear image to the reader as the reader can imagine about an innocent child travelling in the sea full of danger with his friend, even though the boat can bring him to the death. However, at the end of the novel, Walton picked Frankenstein up when he found him in the arctic. After Frankenstein’s recovery from illness got better and was able to tell Walton his story. Mary uses Frankenstein’s first narrative point of view to tell his story which expresses Mary’s warning to the reader.

He went to study in the university with his sadness of losing his mother, he isolated himself from the world and spent most of the time studying. He was interested in human structure and creating life, which shows that he has a God complex which is he believes that he has a same ability as the god. Because of this, he spent most of his time studying about human body, collecting pieces of dead body, and finally he created the Creature. Due to the creature’s scary and ugly look, described by Victor ” How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains and care I had endeavoured to form? His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful! Great God! His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun-white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips”, he ran away from his own creation.
Because the creature looks very ugly and creepy, everywhere he goes, people banish him by throwing rocks at him, people ran away from him. This creates a
